What I Offer

What I offer at Equinox Biblical Counseling:

Being a Contemplative Charismatic Reformed follower of Christ . . . I want to be totally tethered to the Word of God and led by the Holy Spirit. That may need a little defining for you! ‘Contemplative’ means I like a lot of quiet space to listen to the Lord. It also means that I like a lot of old, usually dead authors who speak about the disciplines of the faith but also our union with God. ‘Reformed’ refers to doctrine … I come out of mostly a Calvinistic background though find myself not in love with a couple of his tenets of faith. ‘Charismatic’ refers to both doctrine and practice. So as a charismatic I embrace the supernatural realm and what it means to live in the Kingdom of God. And because I am charismatic, some of what I do in counseling may be new to you. Feel free to ask questions! I try to engage all the gifts of the Holy Spirit and will sometimes pray in my prayer language quietly.

But my main focus is to listen to my client and to listen to the Holy Spirit. I follow His lead so that you might receive all the healing and freedom the Lord wants to give. There are many layers on the journey to healing, and only the Holy Spirit can see them all. Staying closely tied to the Word keeps me grounded in all that God wants to do and say in a session.

Here are some of the things I offer in sessions to help you. You might decide you want to focus in one area at a time, though often each overlaps with the others.

Spiritual Direction

Spiritual direction is focused time to contemplate your relationship with God where we will ponder your walk with God in new ways, asking open ended questions, and listening to the Holy Spirit together, often inviting you into practicing many of the spiritual disciplines together and in our time apart.

Traditional Counseling

Individual Counseling is focused on talking through life’s issues, relationships, and personal healing with a prayerful and Biblical perspective.

Inner Healing Prayer

Our time will be spent in prayer and seeking the Holy Spirit to get to root causes of sin and areas of struggle. There is a focus on confession, repentance, and healing work through listening to one another and welcoming the Holy Spirit to come and heal deep emotional wounds.

Deliverance and Generational Healing

A focused time of prayer dealing with spiritual forces and generational sin that may be working against your healing. Confession, repentance, and listening to the Holy Spirit are all a part of the process, as well as casting out the enemy. I use Sam Storms, Rob Reimer, Francis MacNutt, Jack Deere, and Neil Anderson all as references.

Prayer for Physical Healing

A focused time of listening to the Holy Spirit for possible hindrances to physical healing in your life. Soaking Prayer, and prayers of command may be used to help heal your physical body, though ultimately the Lord decides the results.

You won’t find fixed prices listed here, because at Equinox we want to help you based on your individual needs. Most counselors in the area charge somewhere between 75 to 150 an hour, and if you can hit that range, wonderful. But we do not want finances to keep you away from getting the help you need. We want you to have some ‘skin in the game’ but do not want to be the cause of undue burden. We are asking that you prayerfully consider what the Lord would have you pay and then be obedient to what He asks.
